WOOLLETT
ON-EDGE FOR TOYO TYRES MINI-JAM
Willowbank Raceway's test
and tune on Saturday the 17th of Feb saw some
of the best Street All Wheel Drive testing we
have seen yet. Theo Woollett Racing were out testing
in the lead-up to the TOYO TYRES MINI-JAM which
will be held at Willowbank Raceway on the 31st
of March as Round 3 of the 2006/2007 Sports Compact
Group Drag Racing Series.
Speaking
with Theo on Saturday night, he explained that
since the National Open at Willowbank in early
January where they set a blistering time 8.95
sec, they have been struggling with the delivery
of the power to the track.
The
main problem weve been experiencing was
leaving the start line. We either had too much
power or not enough! With the fast thinking of
Steve and the boys from Direct Clutch they made
some very minor adjustments to the clutch which
allowed us to put down some of the most consistent
and quickest passes weve seen in the Street
All Wheel Drive class yet commented Woollett.
Not
only did the ON-EDGE Nissan Skyline GT-R put some
very impressive passes down with ETs of
9.01, 9.05, 9.06, 9.09 and 9.11, they also belted
out a couple of 160.43 mph trap speeds in the
process. With the newly found bracket racing consistence,
the team are in good stead for the Street All
Wheel Driveclass which is run on a DYO (Dial Your
Own) format. After talking with Rob Stafford of
Garrett Turbochargers during the week the team
will be turning up the boost for the TOYO TYRES
MINI-JAM. Along with competing in the HKS by PWA
sponsored Street AWD class, the team hopes to
take the number 1 spot for radial tyred GT-Rs
away from long time friend and competitor Keir
Wilson who currently holds the record with an
8.89 @ 160.86mph.
Id
say with what we saw on the weekend the Theo Woollett
Racing team are well on their way to achieving
their goal. To keep up to date with Theo Woollett
